摘要: The Internet is a essential medium in contemporary life. Excessive or improper usage of the Internet could contribute to many problems, for example Internet Addiction Disorder. This research is to investigate the correlation between Internet addiction level and academic achievements of college students. The performance index of freshmen is based on the Entrance Exam and the Z-score in the first semester. In the research, the Internet Addiction Scale by Chen(2003) is adopted, considering the users’ habits in the Internet as variables. 393 freshmen ( Male 171, Female 222) are tested through examining the variance, correlation and regression analysis.
The research finds that the sufficient gap between scores of Entrance Exam and grades of the first semester exists. Gender and time of on-line game result in this gap. In the research, there are findings that the more time male freshmen spend on on-line game, the worse grades they will receive. Sufficiently passive correlation exists between the time management in Internet Addiction Scale and the score of Entrance Exam and grades of the first semester. Therefore, the conclusion shows the more time students spend on the Internet, the worse academic performance will appear.
