The aim of this study is to analyze the connection between participation motivation, involvement and leisure benefits of the amateur cycling participants attending Bulau Cycling Event held by Formosa Lohas Cycling Association. The subjects of this study are the participants of Yunlin Bulau 13 Cycling Event. The subjects are divided into the amateur cyclists and the experienced cyclists. There are 350 questionnaires distributed and the effective response rate is 100%.
The study concludes that:
(1) The participation motivation of the amateur cyclists elevates for health benefits and the deeper engagements are for the demonstration of themselves. The physiological benefits help the participation of the leisure activities.
(2) The participation motivation of the experienced cyclists elevates for soothing and relaxing, and their continued involvements are due to their respect to Bulau Cycling Event. The psychological benefits help the enjoyment of the leisure activities.
(3) This study suggests the organizers to strengthen the concept of health and to increase the interaction between cyclists to attract potential and individual sports population.
