摘要: These years, the groups of performing arts in Taiwan develop vigorously, and many groups have developed their organized teams with substantial and sound management and have their goal. Performing arts can elevate the level of culture and enrich the quality of lift to create the value for people under stress. However, performing arts can’t be produced massively and duplicated like general source material. Many of them can’t only depend on themselves or support all expenses just from their box office receipts. However, for the groups of performing arts, some latent worries appeared repeatedly. Many groups announced to dismiss or suspended to produce. The study, according to the view of ambidexterity, discusses that the groups of domestic performing arts cope with the way to solve the dilemma. On the basis of ambidexterity, the study believes that the groups implementing both the innovation of exploration “performing arts” and the innovation of exploitation “business management” can gain more remarkable achievement, including the popularization of the ideal and the achievement of management.
The study takes U-Theatre as the case of the research. It explores how the groups of performing arts embody both their performing arts and business management, and try to balance both the pursuit of the theories and the practicality of the management by the view of ambidexterity. U-Theatre established in 1998, and the members studied martial arts, played the drums, and sat Zen in tranquil Laochuan Mountain. In the present society, it is a rare group of performing arts cultivating themselves by ataraxia and meditation. However, the group winning many international awards announced to stop its creative works until 2015, triggering the dilemma of pursuing innovative performing arts and maintaining sustainable operation for the groups of performing arts. At last, U-Theatre pursues the balance of performing arts and business management by linking external resources to train diversified talents and on the basis of resounding the ideal to elevate the abilities for commercial shows. In the end, the results of the study and the implication of the practice are also discussed elaborately.
