Abstract: “Lifegame” is an activity that is rarely known in Taiwan, but which has helped over 15,000 young people change their life in Malaysia. The youth associations, high schools, freshmen orientation organizers, employee education training at large scaled companies all invite LifeImpact Group to carry out this activity every year. In 2012, Taiwan also introduced this activity. There have been 4 events held with over 700 participants since then up till Feb 2014. The ages of participants ranged from 13 to 60 and they all gave positive feedback. The researcher first heard of “ Lifegame” and then was invited to Malaysia for this activity. He returned with a fruitful and valuable experience.
There are four main questions asked in this research: 1. What is the basic characteristic of the participants who join Lifegame? What are pre-test and post-test for four aspects of “ Life development”? Is there any difference between pre-test and post-test? If a difference is found, where does it fall? 2. Do the variety of personal characteristics of people who join Lifegame affect the four aspects of life development? If they do, in which aspects? 3. To what extent of influence will be imposed on the participants’ self-esteem, work value, life value and life meaning in terms of their life development after they join Lifegame? 4. The result of this research will be provided as a specific advice for relative units to organize activities of life development.
The research result indicated that the experience and study of Lifegame has a significant effect on the four aspects of psychological qualities of life development. For females in particular, those who have a college degree or who will seek a career in the future or a re-entry to their career, they have a more significant improvement on their work values.
Therefore, the following ideas are advised: 1. Enhance thorough life experience to improve the management of life events/incidents. 2. Reinforce the interpersonal relationship to improve their positive experience seeking help from others to fulfill their needs. 3. Improve the trainings on the ability to work under pressure as to strengthen the ability to accept, learn and grow from mistakes at work. 4. Increase the number of sessions of Lifegame provided as the pre-work or work education training to help more participants build a positive, goal-oriented life. 5. Enhance the concept of life values, enhance positive life development in an active way. 6. Enhance the ability to overcome the fear of death and turn the fear to power working for a better life. 7. Progressively provide guidance to inspire one with a life goal as to keep hopes to accomplish one’s goals with faith. 8. Enhance religion/faith experience in depth to grow one’s soul and improve living quality.
