Coordination between two different business entities is an important way to gain competitive advantage as it lowers supply chain cost. In this projest, we consider a two-echelon supply chain: a single retailer holds a finished goods inventory to meet a stock-dependent market demand, and a single manufacturer produces the retailer’s replenishment orders on a make-to-order basis. The objective of this project is to maximize the joint total profit. We solve the problem with the conditions of finite shelf/display space and time-dependent partial backlogging rate. We try to provide a simple solution procedure for finding the maximum joint total profit. Finally, numerical examples are used to illustrate the benefit of integration.
