A Study of Elementary Young Students with ADHD Using Schematic Video and Animated Diagrams to Solve Arithmetic Word Problems
Abstract
This study developed schematic video information system and animated diagrams to help elementary young students with Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)to solve arithmetic word problems. There were three students who study in the same class participating in this study. These boys also have the same problems with solving arithmetic word problems and reading comprehension problems. The single subject multiple probe design across students was employed with 5 phases including baseline, intervention, maintenance, generalization and follow-up phases. Paper and pencil tests were used in all phases. At last the results showed that they were found to be interested in the schematic video and animated diagrams .In addition, the schemas help them to think and solve single and multi-step arithmetic word problems.
