Abstract: Since 1993, Taiwan has become an aging society. It is of great urgency for the elderly to organize their retirement plans and to improve the quality of their lives. For this reason, senior citizens should be provided with a retirement-related education and they should develop a better quality of life in order to face the aging life.
In this study, members in one of farmers home economics classes in Taichung are coded as the research objects. Questionnaires are designed based on three facets: attitude, subject norm, and perceived behavioral control. The survey is implemented by adopting stratified convenient sampling method.
This study has found some facts :1. The most members participating in the class are aged 55 to 65 years, and most of their educational attainment is junior high school, the largest occupational category is household management. 2. The most important factor for elderly women to participate in home economics extension education is to enrich their knowledge and experience.3. After applying Six Sigma improvement techniques to improve in three areas : courses, environment and services, it enhances the participation rate up to 6.03% and it brings good results.
We hope to strengthen the development of home economics classes, enrich elderly women's lives, and make them substantial in order to elevate the function of social services and build a peaceful society.
