摘要: Objective: This study was designed to investigate the epidemiological features of falling injury accidents for the elderly.
Methods: In the basis of observation research method, the period of this study was from January 2014 to December 2014. The data were from the emergency rescue record of Taichung DA-Li Fire Brigade. We described the epidemiological features of falling injury accidents for DA-LI residents. Excluding suicide clients, the including criteria were the elderly with a accident of falling or road falling.
Results: The duration of this study, 1,647 emergency rescues occurred at the area of Taichung Da-Li Fire Brigade and revealed about 4.51 missions per day. In all, 103 fall injury accidents occurred and 34.95% (36/86) of them were the elderly clients. The significant odds ratios were 2.35 (p<0.001, 95% CI 1.37-3.13) and 1.61 (p=0.027, 95% CI 1.05-2.47) in the elderly population and male population, respectively. The prevalence was 118.23 per 100,000 populations.
Conclusion: This study results show the elderly and male are two high-risk groups of falling injury accidents. We suggest that we should pay attention to the falls history of the elderly, and then to facilitate future personal preventions and control plan drawing.
