    Title: A Case Study of Sports Safety Behavior for Elementary and Junior High School Students in Taichung Area

    Abstract: This research aims at to realize among the relation of sports participate situation, sports safe behaviors and sports injuries from the daily sports of elementary and junior high students. By Self-editing Questionnaires and adopting the way of purposive sampling for the research object of the students from four junior high first and second grades schools and from the four seniors of elementary schools in Fongyuan district of Taichung city and there are 416 copies of valid questionnaires. The result of the research shows as following:
    First, in order to achieve the Sport & Health 150 program, which promoting for the Ministry of Education, Promotion Health Administration, Ministry of health and welfare suggests that exercise intensity should be investigated the students’ amount of exercise in two weeks. The standard of the qualities and quantities for the female of junior high students are obviously declining to 48.6%. Thus, lacking interesting is one of the reasons for obstructing these students participate exercise.
    Secondly, there are 44 percents sports injuries for students in six months, and the boys (50%) are more than the girls (38%), and the elementary pupils (48.1%) are higher than the junior high students. Most of the harmful sections are knees (47.3%), ankles (31.0%) and hands (19.7%). The types of sports injuries are abrasion (59.1%), bruise (42.4%) and injury by straining (24.1%). However the ways of the treatment of damages are taking a rest, stype or salve mull by oneself (36.5%), or treating from the school Health Center (26.6%).
    Third, among the interviewee of students, it is declining positive and middle relation between the cognitive safety behavior of sports and the performance safety behavior of sports. However in the scores, the cognitive safety behaviors of sports are obviously superior to the performance safety behavior of sports(t=13.10,p=0.000). Comparing to the gender and the stages of education, There is no difference on the cognitive safety behavior of sports, but the performance safety behavior of sports are obviously different, and girls are superior to the boys. And on the performance safety behavior of sports, the pupils are superior to the students of junior high.
    Fourth, in the investigating of the performance safety behavior of sports, ten of the performance of the behavior of sports safety, the lowest scores are “worm up before exercising” (3.89±1.09), ” cool down after exercising” (3.47±1.28) and “ wearing protective clothing while exercising” (2.65±1.48).
    To sum up, it cannot be prevented from the sports injuries with any protection in advance. However, the more we pay close attention to the sports injuries, the less damage will be. Therefore, exercise can be an activity of safety, challenging, and health.
