Abstract: Modern main teaching types are no longer limited in books. E-learning has been widely applied in teaching activities. Traditional Geography teaching attached great importance to declarative knowledge. Geography teaching has the responsibility to upgrade students’ cognitive level in learning, and to cultivate the ability of critical thinking and problem-solving.

Thus, this research adopted “Problem-Based Learing” as the basis of the theory, and use “Quantum GIS” as the auxiliary tool to design “A geographic environmental education e-learning system on the basis of Quantum GIS”. Then students were devided into treatment group and control group. First, the research began with a pre-test. Students who belonged to the first 50% were in high-level group; those who belonged to the last 50% were in low-level group. The two groups proceed to a four-week experimental teaching and tradional teaching separately. Then, it came up with the post-test, and to investigate whether this system could improve the learning effect, problem-solving ability, and learning attitude of geographic environmental education.

The result showed, students in the treatment group joined learning activities through the e-learning platform in this research. No matter the whole students or both of the high-level and low-level groups, their learning effects, problem-solving abilities, and learning attitudes were all improved and raised up. Furthermore, better than the students in control group, who attended the traditional teaching. In addition, this e-learning system produced a marked effect on the learning effect of low-level group, and superior to the high-level group obviously. It can reduce the learning divide between the students in high-level and low-level group effectively.

Therefore, the e-learning system, which was based on the geographic environmental education of Quantum GIS, was worth doing research and development. Hope this e-learning systen could keep developing, and would be applied in other learning activities. Thus, it could provide references for the follow-up researches.
