Abstract: In the line of social cognitive career theory, this research is to explore the relationship between expatriates’ career self-efficacy, career commitment and re-expatriate willingness. Taiwanese expatriates working in Mainland China were recruited as research samples. Structured questionnaires were conducted and a total of 237 valid responses were received. The results showed that career self-efficacy was positively related to expatriate career commitment, as well as re-expatriate willingness. Furthermore, expatriate career commitment was positively related to re-expatriate willingness and was a mediator between career self-efficacy and re-expatriate willingness. Companies intending to expand businesses abroad might select expatriates with highly career self-efficacy and expatriate career commitment to effectively deploy employees who are more inclined to be dispatched overseas or willing to relocate.
