    Title: The Study of Motivation and Satisfaction of Woodball Players in Ping-Tung Junior High School and Elementary School

    Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations of motivation and satisfaction by primary and secondary school students participating in wood ball in Ping-Tung County .The method to carry out this study was using survey of questionnaire taking those students as subjects. 420 samples were issued and 382 were returned .The structure of questionnaire included the personal back ground variations motivations and satisfaction of participating in the sport .The data was analyzed by independent sample t – test、Independent samples ANOVA analysis of relevant statistical methods.The period from elementary to junior high school is the best time to cultivate the attitudes and behaviors of leisure sport .To realize the motivation and satisfaction of these students enables the instructors of each level to make proper plan of the wood ball. The wood ball was created in Taiwan and promoted for the population, especially in Ping tung county. Nowadays, the government is making efforts to promote the wood ball to people of all ages in schools and communities. The wood ball has been promoted these years in Ping-tung county, and the local government is trying to develop the players from primary school. Results were as followed:
    1、The majority of the participants were male, fifth and sixth grade students, years of play :1-2years, performing normally, twice or three times a week ,31-60 minutes each time.
    2、The motivations of male students was higher than that of female.
    The mental and physical motivation of secondary school students was lower apparently than that of fourth fifth and sixth grade students. The year of play had no effect on the motivation of demand. The physical motivation of the students whose years of play between 1and 2 years was much higher. The motivation of the students performing well and spending much time on the wood ball was a bit higher. The motivations of the students performing well and spending much time on the wood ball was a bit higher
    3、Gender affected the satisfaction. The satisfaction of male was higher than that of female. The satisfaction of mental and physical demand of the primary school students was higher than that of secondary school students. The higher satisfaction of social support was obtained by the students whose years of play were more than 3 years. The higher satisfaction was obtained by the students who performed well and spent much time on it
    I hoped the results and suggestions of this study could be a reference for the domestic instructors and coaches, and be beneficial to promote the wood ball.
