    Title: Cooperative Learning and Students’ Achievement: A Meta-analysis Abstract

    Abstract: 本研究採用「後設分析法」(meta-analysis)探討問題解決教學策?對學生學習成效之影響,並進一步探討?同文件性質、樣本性質、研究方法及研究案性質的問題解決教學策?相關研究,對學生學習成效之差?。
    本研究所採用的文獻?源為:國家圖書?博碩士?文資訊網、中華民國期刊?文?引、國家科學委員會補助之研究計畫、Educational Resources Information Center(ERIC)。研究者將所蒐集到的問題解決教學策?相關實證研究進?篩選之後,以台灣地區學生為樣本並符合本後設分析標準之研究報告計有56篇,經過登?編碼、計算效果大小值,並透過單因子變??分析之方式,對中介變項的影響提出?明。
    研究結果顯示問題解決教學策?可以提升學生整體學習成效(包含對學科之學習成效、問題解決能?以及創造?)。在所蒐集的研究報告中顯示,其效果值(Effect Size, ES)分別為學習成效共38篇,ES=0.51、問題解決能?共34篇, ES=0.65、創造?共15篇,ES=0.80,代表問題解決教學策?對學生的學科之學習成效是中?地優於控制組(大多為傳統教學),且對學生問題解決能?以及創造?有高?的提昇作用。
    而在研究變項的分析方面,雖然多?的變項?未達顯著性差?,但仍呈現出一些重要的訊息。綜言之,本研究透過對56篇實驗研究的深?分析,提出問題解決教學策?可以提升學生整體學習成效之可靠依據,對教師也提供?一個可以提升學生學習成效、問題解決能?以及創造?的教學方法。至於,是哪些因素真正影響?這些成效?可能?是這篇後設分析能明確回答。本研究僅指出透過問題解決教學策?確實可增進學生學習成效,而此項結果本身已深具意義。A meta-analysis was performed to synthesize existing research comparing the effects of cooperative learning on students' achievement in Taiwan. Ninety-eight studies were located from four sources, and their quantitative data was transformed into Effect Size (ES). The overall grand mean of the study-weighted ESs for all 98 studies was 0.56, 0.37, and 0.59 for cognitive outcome, affective outcome, and social behavior outcome, respectively. The results suggest that cooperative learning is more effective than traditional instruction for students’ achievement in Taiwan. However, only 2 of the 17 variables had significant main effects on mean ES.
