Abstract: In the advanced computer technology era, the trend has moved the input devices toward to computer vision technology gradually. Due to the non-intuitiveness for human to use, the traditional input devices such as keyboards and mice might be replaced or augmented by human-oriented interfaces. In this study, we developed a human-oriented interaction system for the multimedia presentation service by using webcams as input devices. Besides, a practicable architecture is also proposed to implement these systems. In the system, users provided with basic controls by using their gesture or body movements. The results showed that all control signals of the motions of users’ body are accurately captured and responded in our proposed system. In addition, 125 users are asked to evaluate the system. The results reveal positive response that users are satisfied for the multimedia presentation system.
