近几十年来,中国外语界外语教学理论和教学法的研究,百花齐放、百家争鸣。但与之形成鲜明对比的却是贫困地区外语教学研究的“真空地带”。本文对中西部贫困地区县高中英语教学存在的问题进行了分析和探讨。根据作者一年的实地调查、教学实践这一案例的分析,文中讨论交际法和传统教学法在该县高中英语教学的适应性与可行性,指出在目前条件下我国中西部贫困地区县高中英语教学仍应坚持传统教学法为主要教学法。English teachers, educators and researcher in China have involved in heated debate on the choice between communicative approach and traditional approach for recent decades. Many related researches have been conducted and published, which lead to the
flourishing of different views concerning the issue. However, few researches focus on teaching English in rural, remote and underdeveloped areas such as Midwestern China.This paper reports a case study of teaching English to students in a senior high school of Guizhou Province in Midwestern China. The authors argue that currently communicative teaching approach is not feasible to the needs of the students in the area. Instead,traditional approach to teaching English in China works better for this particular group of students.
