Abstract: In the rapid change of science and technology nowadays, the main core developments
in 21st century are network, communication and biotechnology. The cable television
system not only broadcasts the traditional TV program, but also begins to provide a
lot of value-added services such as network, multimedia and interact TV.
This main research in the thesis focuses on how to control gain for the radio
frequency power amplifier products. The products can be actually implemented in
the ends of the CATV network facilities in the schools all over the nation, and applied
in the video-information teaching system at the schools.
The stability is the most important consideration in the design of amplifiers,
If the stability can not meet the requirement, the other functions such as power gain,
bandwidth, and noise are becoming useless.
This thesis is divided into chapters including amplifier, specification, circuit
simulation and result- proved experiment. At first we discuss the comparison of
qualities of amplifiers among at some brand products, and the price difference among
them is also one of consideration. The amplifiers must have characteristics of high
gain, low distortion, and suitable impedance match to guarantee the best performance
    of products.
Next further the amplifiers need to be connected to the other related circuit to be
finished, and are experimented by RF circuit simulation software to prove if the spec
requirements are achieved. The verification of specifications includes CSO, CTB,
    iii
output input return loss, signal gain, and signal smooth. Most of the performance
tests meet customers’ requirements, but there are still some performances whose test
data are just close to specification can be improved further. However, the test
methods and data obtained in this research will be the most priority references for the
    future improvement.
