Abstract: In this research, we apply Penrose Tiles Patterns for the recognition competency test to analyze the academic achievement of the elementary school students, and the difference and reasons between the school scoring and the Penrose Tiles scoring. We also evaluate students’ vision hunt ability, including vision analysis and the sensitivity of pattern observation. The research will be carried out by students based on computer online test, and the groups for tests are selected by the specific students of each class from the first grade to the sixth grade in the Nan Tou elementary school. The contents of tests are complied with the guideline of” grade 1-9 curriculum of elementary and junior high school education”, whose evaluation is based on shapes and spaces of mathematics competency index, and will be updated and edited to become the examination questions of vision recognition competency for carrying analysis. This research comes to the following conclusions based on the summary of analyzed data:
    1. The students who are excellent in academic achievement are above average at vision recognition competency.
    2. The students who are behind in academic achievement are below average at vision recognition competency.
    3. The students who are excellent in realistic painting or drawings are above average at vision recognition competency.
    4. The students who are below average in realistic painting or drawings will have difficulty at vision recognition competency.
So, test scores have been related with academic achievement, and also have been related with realistic painting ability.
