Abstract: Web server cluster has become the main engine overhead construction, but the huge connections swarming in within a twinkle of eyes often force the web server toward the brim of collapse. The main function of the web load balance is to achieve the utmost efficiency of the web server cluster as a whole. Owing to the fact that http is constructed at the topmost stage, the server can't help but consume the expenses of the TCP connection with the users. The dispatcher on the web cluster system , in addition to the function of the load balance, also needs to economize the expenses of the connection mentioned above so that it can bring out the right efficiency to challenge more http requests swarming in at a rapid speed.

A university in central Taiwan has been using the web server cluster to select classes for many years. Having discussed the situation of using the school network to select classes and analyzed the student class-selecting registration web log, the period of 30 minutes prior to students selecting classes is the rush hour of the entire system as well as the crisis period of the host server, which is generally solved by either setting up rules to regulate users, purchasing Layer4-Layer7 network commutation equipment to match the server or expanding the quantities of the main engines of the web cluster.

This study is to test how the 2 types of work patterns of Layer4-Layer7 network commutation equipment, Proxy and Switch Base, can influence the system, and bring up the notion based on communication, establish the communication channels and use the performance of database server as a reference to load balance mechanism. It has been expected that by using more economical equipment, users will get to know the database server status of the true interaction, and put the system on a smooth and normal track by reducing the aimless access to the network.
