Abstract: The research is to study "Remote System Wake Up By Using the Short Message Service". It began the study of both the GSM telecommunication network communication technology and the Short Message Service of the wireless network packet technology. It then will perform the remote wake up and the remote shut-down either the computer or the microcomputer device on the wide area network through TCP/IP protocol on Internet. Finally the experiments include 1) remote wake up the machine, 2) data transmission, 3) quick maintenance, 4) remote reboot, 5) remote shut-down by using the GSN message service technology.

Today, the GSM alliance covers over more than 174 countries and the number of GSM subscribers has been reached up to I billion. Large enterprises and research institutes in the world put tremendous efforts on the study of the new GSM functions with their added-on value. This research will then combine the technologies of the remote wake up the machine and the GSM message service. The results of experiment show that by using the communication interface of the GSM shore message services between the internet network and the GSM telecommunication network can use message service structure platform achieving various kinds of services include urgent request, arrange notice, system security, remote control, group broadcast, etc.
