    Abstract: Under the age of micro profits, the domestic enterprises compete with each other in the shrinking market. It is inevitable trend to develop international market to strengthen the organization’s competitiveness. CMMI not only provides the direction of development processes, but also helps the organization to develop and improve the management of internal processes instantly. Its impartial and objective gradational certification is recognized by most of the countries in the world. In addition, it is also one of the main communication interfaces to international business.

    It is necessary to get the certification of CMMI to demonstrate the ability and maturity of information technology of Taiwan. Recently, due to the promotion by Institute for Information Industry and related organizations, there are some preliminary achievements of CMMI applications in Taiwan. It will make the information technology industries of Taiwan connect with those of other countries in the world.

    This research focuses on a case study of new products development applying CMMI and the guidelines of Institute for Information Industry, Taiwan in an electronic manufacturing firm. It chooses single process area, which is Configuration Management Process Area of CMMI. Hence, Continuous Representation of CMMI is adopted to enhance the process improvement of the new products development. The results of this research show that the application of CMMI can certainly and effectively improve the processes, and CMMI can be used as an operation standard.
