    Title: A Study on the Managerial Strategy of the Elder Educational Institutes---The Case of Taichung Area

    Abstract: This is a case study of business strategy for the elder educational institutes. With
    the coming of the aging society, the aging population increases day by day. Nowadays
    the silver-haired race's living plans after retirement have becoming imminent issues to
    be concerned about. But the problems of aged people are very possible to be
    solved by way of reeducation from the elder educational institutes to provide learning
    activities in order to create a living of happiness for them, which has become a kind
    of fashion and trend in the world as a whole.
    The case study was based on induction, the scientific analysis as well as the
    collection of the background by using the method of qualitative research technique,
    semi-structured interview program, the in-depth interview include the local authority
    officers, the foundation trustees, religious group representatives, the CEO of charity
    institutes??e staff of administrative department and its related aged people's
    educational organization , with the purpose to understand the managing ideas and
    management of current status quo.
    The conclusions are as follows:
    (1) On the aspect of managerial idea of the elder educational institutes for the
    elderly: to fulfill the welfare policy for the elderly; to promote the community idea of
    education for lifelong study; to take care of a perfect development for the body , the
    heart, the spirit, the environment of the senior.
    (2) On the aspect of the current management of the elder educational institutes
    for the elderly: from the analysis of these four layers of the management function, the
    business function, the national policy, the social environment to understand the status
    quo and the problem on management of the elder educational institutes for the elderly.
    (3) On the aspect of management strategy of the elder educational institutes for
    the elderly: the main direction for the strategy of growth by means of taking the
    strategy of focus, the strategy of differentiation, the strategy of co-operation in order
    to expand the range of service and the result to meet the goal and mission of the elder
    educational institutes.
    Finally the case study proposed three workable suggestions to the elder educational
    mst1tutes:
    ( I ) A proposal to regarding the government management strategy of the elder
    educational institutes.
    ( 2) A proposal for the elder educational institutes to build up short-term and
    long-term targets.
    ( 3) A proposal for the future research in terms of area study, the object of the study, the method of the study and the extension of the study.
