Abstract: The study aims to discuss the leisure activities influenced by the social change after Taiwan Restoration, and is focused on the transformation in economy, education, art, culture and so on to find out what the influence of the historical background on leisure activities is.
More than 60 years after the restoration, Taiwan goes through the changes of economy, education, art, culture and so on, and with the development and growth of the whole society, there is a great change in the way of production. An intellect-intensive base has taken place of a labor-intensive one gradually, products are made by machinery instead of by hand, and technology has improved the material life of mankind. Thus the leisure time of the laborers has been lengthened and the concept of leisure has been paid much attention to by the fellow countrymen day by day. From the study, the conclusions obtained are as follows:
    1. After the Restoration, the continuing economic growth, the increasing of leisure time and the popularization and the advance of education make our fellow countrymen have more ability and stronger desire to take part in a variety of leisure activities beside work.
    2. The educational level has been heightened. The thirst for knowledge is much stronger. ?Seeing is believing? drives people to regard sightseeing and leisure activities as one of the activities and studies to improve knowledge and to be relieved.
    3. The cultural construction has heightened the spiritual and living quality of the fellow countrymen, for example the diversification of arts and leisure activities, which has heightened the spiritual and living quality of the fellow countrymen.
    4. The development of population structure and the coming of aging
population make our fellow countrymen regard the arrangement of leisure life as one of the important activities.
    5. The changing of the family patterns makes its function decline, however, leisure activities can make up for the shortage.
    6. Urbanization gradually makes a new kind of urban leisure pattern form and become more and more popular. The rural village attaches the
importance to the leisure trends and carry out the leisure industrialization, which promotes the development of leisure agriculture and tourism industrialization.
The patterns and ways of leisure activities will be affected by economy, education and the education of arts and culture. Therefore when we plan the measures of leisure activities, we should pay much attention to making a good combination with culture in order to create more meaningful leisure activities.
