Arifin Ahmad hospital is a type B public hospital for education in Pekan baru Riau, Indonesia. Arifin Ahmad hospital is also a referral hospital for all patients from Pekan baru sub district health centers. Arifin Ahmad hospital use manual information system and this system had a big deficiency on patient satisfaction. One of the problems is longer waiting time especially in outpatient department. Another problem is inefficient patient registration and storage of medical record. Based on these problems, the author considered the application of online of information system in health sector. In this study we made a prototype of online hospital information system for Arifin Ahmad hospital by designing, developing, implementing and testing the system. The system gives some management advantages not only to patient care but also for physicians and hospital staffs. A lot of menus are shown in this system such as new information, physician schedule, and online registration and even for electronic medical record. By applying this system, it is expected that we can increase quality of health service and reduce hospital expenditure.
Therefore the results of this research are: more efficient, effective, online hospital information systems and streamlined operation, increasing revenue, better efficiencies and patient loyalty
