    摘要: This research ? police beats efficiency research? is based on police beats of Taichung County Police Bureau. In tradition, the police station (stand) is like local small temple that is irreplaceable to local people. Nowadays, the unemployment rate has rising in Taiwan. The income gape between rich and poor has gone wider then ever. The crime rate and criminal amount are growing in trend. The Police department not only investigate and prevent crime occurred, but has to improve manpower and functions of police beats.
    The research is strategically based on reviewing the function, trait and working condition of police beats . There are 6 chapters in this research. Chapter 3 ?working hour and condition?, Chapter 4 ?manpower census and analysis? and Chapter 5 ?proof of working efficiency?, these are the key point of this research.
    This research takes the analysis the police beats and working efficient. The census takes two parts of subjectivity side and nonego side, and analysis the relation in between. Use the data and apply Stochastic Frontier Analysis ; SFA to analysis. Calculating the average efficiency of Taichung county?s police beats police?s social service.
    This analysis has concluded 3 point as fellow:
    1. From the contains of census we found all factor to output, police beats has the same condition. Take criminal cases add service cases as total output. Apply the economic Stochastic Frontier Analysis ; SFA for efficiency analysis. The efficiency value is 0.5027 (standard deviation 0.1719). The efficiency value is not so high.
    2. Even the result of analysis of the working efficiency of police beats is not so high. The sample of different age and different rank police has obviously variance. For example The number of Sergeant(0.5027) and major(0.5352) has big difference.
    3. Some clue also shows in the analysis, that a police beats policeman has higher output with encouragement. Some reward is necessary to motivate output.
