The objective of this study is to analyze the motivation factors for the nursing staff in middle Taiwan. Study objects consist of nurses, nursing managers, hospital-related administration, trade union and governmental officers, from hospitals above local level in Middle of Taiwan. 70 questionnaires were issued out with a return rate of completion of 88.57%. The data obtained were analyzed through the program of?Expert Choice 2000?to do the analytical hierarchy process (AHP).The primary outcomes are as follows? 1? The requirement of motivation factors could vary along with the timing change and due to different preferences of nursing personnel. According to this survey, the ratio of salary and welfare turns out to be the highest: 0.2681 (26.81%), which shows that salary and welfare had obtained the highest attention from most of nursing personnel. The second is the interpersonal relationship with 0.196 (19.6%), personal growth with 0.127 (12.7%), the achievement and recognition with 0.112 (11.2%), the work surroundings with 0.105 (10.5%), the administration and ethics 0.097 with (9.7 %), task and promotion with 0.96 (9.6%). 2? Due to the dispatching insufficiency of the medical resources among different counties, the motivation methods should be adjusted according to the district characteristics. 3? From the perspective of nursing managers, what motivates the nursing personnel most is the salary and welfare; while what matters most for nursing personnel themselves is also the salary and welfare.
