    Title: The Investigation of Ventilator Dependent Patients and Main Family Carers on Medical Service Need and Satisfaction

    Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the medical service needs and satisfaction of the ventilator dependent patients and their main family carers. This study defined needs as the important of medical service and defined satisfaction as the satisfaction of medical service. A total of 32 eligible patients and 122 main family carers were selected and interviewed from 5 hospitals in Taichung City. Through the use of a strutted questionnaire with Cronbach ? reliability test and expert validity.
    The analytical results show that the unmet needs of patients range from ?The ward design of privacy environment?, ?Medical professional to esteem patient?s personal privacy?, ?The main family cares can be often come to visit? in order. The unmet needs of main family cares range from ?Offer economical support?, ?The temperature of the ward is proper?, ?Find out about the patient's situation and progress of the condition? in order.
    Accordingly, it suggested as below: ?1?The design of the ward should be based on the protection of patients? privacy.?2?The government should stipulate the relevant supplementary measures of payment in order to encourage the medical providers developing home care.?3?To reduce the cognitive disparity between the medical professional and main family cares, the medical professional should communicate with main family cares abundantly.?4?The medical professional can efficiently increase the mutual interaction between main family cares and patients.
