    Title: The Study of Users? Vandalisms at A City Park

    Abstract: Park is the main outdoor recreational space in the city. Visitors? Vandalisms at the parks usually reduce the recreational quality. The objectives of this research were used observing method to observe users? vandalisms at Taichung Feng-Le Statue Park, and to realize the relationships between users? vandalisms and external environments. The observing period was March to April 2008. The results of this study were followings:
    1. User?s genders did not influence users? vandalisms. Two main ages, children and teenagers and middle ages, and family were related to users? vandalisms.
    2. Comfortable temperature, many visitors together, and garbage existed were the external environments easily to induce vandalisms.
    3. To destroy the facilities of the park, to ride bicycles, to walk dogs, to ruin meadows and to throw out garbage were the top five user?s vandalisms at the park.
    4. Temperature, luminance, visitors existed at the park, and the amounts of garbage were the external environments concerned for this research.
    5. Vandalism users? genders, ages and types of visitors were related to the external environments.
    6. Users? genders, ages and types of visitors were related to the different types of vandalisms.
    It is suggested to improve the visible external environments to reduce the possibility to induce users? vandalisms, if the authorized managers of the park plan to improve the quality of the park.
