    Abstract: Since TV gained in popularity, watching TV has become one of people?s major pastime activities Besides, TV is the most frequent approach of information media TV has on assured place in the ratio of peoples pastime activities And among children?s recreational activities, watching TV programs commonly becomes a sort of children?s pastime behaviors, and cartoon programs particularly affect the physical and mental development of children ?which is the issue that relevant researchers show
    great concern for.
    Consequently the aim of study is as follows?
    ?1? understanding the correlative degree between individual traits of children and their habits of watching cartoon.
    ?2? understanding the correlative degree between children?s family background and their habits of watching cartoon.
    ?3? understanding the correlative degree between environ-mental factors and their habits of watching cartoon.
    The main purpose of the study is to under stand the factors that affect junior and senior pupils in native districts watching cartoon. It adopts questionnaire to grade 4 and grade 6 from primary schools of native districts lying in Nantou County. The survey result adopts statistics methods; reliability analysis, frequency distribution, factor analysis, two way analysis of variance, one-way analysis of variance, Chi-square test, correlation analysis, etc to explore such factors as individual traits, family background?and the environment that affect children?s watching cartoon.
    The study based on the analysis result mentioned above provides advice for children watching cartoon, expecting further understanding of children?s pastime activities in native districts, and hoping that it can improve the need of children?s pastime activities in native districts.
