    Title: The Study of Motivations Obstructions and Health Effects of Teenage Students to Sing at KTV Stores

    Abstract: A proper leisure can increase human?s physical, mental and social health. However, an improper leisure can decrease human?s physical, mental and social health. There were few domestic studies about the negative health effects from improper leisure activities. To sing at KTV store is a poplar activity for Taiwanese, the objectives of this research were to study the motivations, obstructions, and health effects of teenage students to sing at KTV stores. It hopefully increases teenage students? physical, mental and social health through the results of this research. Five hundred and fifty-five questionnaires were collected from five hundred and forty original surveyed 15 to 21-year-old students during the period of March to April 2006; four hundred and seventy-two effective questionnaires were retrieved, the effective response rate was 87.4 %. The results were the followings:
    ?Increasing friends? or classmates? parties?, ?for fun, and ?decreasing pressure? were the top three surveyed samples? motivations to sing at KTV stores. ?Lack of money?, ?no interests?, and ?improper people usually going to KTV ? were the top three surveyed samples? obstructions to sing at KTV stores. ?Bad air quality inside KTV?, ?improper people causing unsafe problems?, and ?singing songs too loud to decreasing hearing abilities? were the top three surveyed samples? negative health effects to sing at KTV stores. ?Decreasing pressure?, ?feeling happier?, and ?getting better social abilities? were the top three surveyed samples? positive health effects to sing at KTV stores. Hope the KTV managers can base on the results of this study to decrease the disadvantages of KTV; then, it can change people?s images about the KTV to be a proper leisure place.
