Abstract: Since 1994, the elderly population has exceeded 7% of the total population and Taiwan has become an aging society according to the United Nations. Besides, the percentage of population aged 65 and above has already reached 9.2% by the end of 2003. However, The most important point is that there are 2.3% of the elderly people living alone. In addition, due to the speedy transition of society and the changing function of family, the aging society related social problems will be an important issue.
??This research focus on discussing how 802.11(Wi-Fi) technology is applied for home healthcare and how the elderly people could be well cared as a result without changing their activities of daily life. With the Wi-Fi technology, caregiver is able to track the user and know his (or her) real time position. If there are any home accident occurs during the duration, it would save time to search for their position. This thesis discusses how the Wi-Fi based location system is able to identify and record user?s daily life activities. We therefore don't bother to worry about the possible disconnected condition.. Patient could be well cared anytime anywhere as a result of the design of home-care environments.
