Abstract: The current Globe Position System (GPS) and GSM position tracking system is not suitable for indoor environment due to shadow problem. This study mainly investigates the position tracking within an indoor area by way of wireless local area network (WLAN). When any people or mobile objects equipped with a sensor, we can learn their positions by the system. We use the Ekahau software to carry out the position tracking. We install a hub and a number of access point in a room to establish an WLAN. In the room, any people or mobile objects with a Tag can be tracked by the software. We also record the resulting data and compare with the actual positions to check the system errors.
