The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of light quality (660 nm red light, 430 nm blue light, red light + blue light,Tubular fluorescent lamp) on the growth and development of Leguminosae seedlings. The results indicate that light quality has significant effects ongrowth and development of Leguminosae seedlings. Plants treated with red light or fluorescent lamp had significant increase in leaf area, dry weight and fresh weight. The plants in red light treatment had longer internodes and the highest plant height and became seriously stretched, whereas those in blue light treatment were more compact of shorter internodes length. Characteristics of plants in red light + blue light treatment displayed between those in red light and blue light. Tubular fluorescent lamp treatment increased the stem diameter. The chlorophyll contents of plants grown in red light + blue light were higher than those grown in red light. Light quality treatment with red light + blue light has highest photosynthesis rates for Leguminosase seedlings leaf. The change of leaf transpiration rates agree with stomatal conductances results unanimously.Change of internal CO2 concentration was at highest point when blue light, red + blue light treatment was applied and also the result agrees with the change of internal CO2 concentration when the stomata are opened. Growth of Leguminosae plantlets, in terms of greatest Stem length, Number of leaf and fresh weight after 15 day was influenced by photoperiodism. The daily light-on hours were similar (12H) for these three treatments, yet treatment 12H and 6H had the greatest Stem ength,Number of leaf and fresh weight with treatments 4H being the worst.
