Abstract: In modern society, the science progresses and updates unceasingly. There are many tasks could not be implemented in the past, nowadays we can accomplish them via new technologies. The development of game is even more. The progress from the past to present shows the intensive development of game in the era of information technology. An example is the change from hide-and-seek game to current massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) over the computer networks.
Disaster prevention learning is one kind of education. The disaster not only causes property damage, but also causes people’s death and wound. Among various kinds of disasters, the fire happens in our surroundings very frequently. The fire accident causes people’s injury and property damage. More than one million dollars damage lost each year in statistics. Learning of fire prevention is therefore relatively important in disaster prevention, especially for the visually impaired.
The purpose of this study is to build a game design of disaster prevention for the visually impaired. The contents not only let the visually impaired learner know the relevant knowledge in a fire, but also help the visually impaired to learn the essential information of fire accident prevention. However, amusement is still one of the essence of game-based learning, the tight experience in game is emphasized in the game design. The detonation of fire accident and the timer design can make learners engage in the game learning even more. This design can help the visually impaired not only to have the knowledge of how to prevent the fire accident, but also have the same conditions with those people who can see normally to flee from the fire.
