Abstract: | The student’s life of college and university set residential, whether “on-campus” or “off-campus”, has been of interest to many researchers for last decades. There is a dearth of research on students’ housing preferences and very little is known about the students’ real needs and requirements. Exploration of student’s housing preferences is essential for better understanding of the students’ real needs and requirements.The purpose of this study is to identify the factors (type of rental payment, comfortable, safety, and socio-location) that mostinfluence on students house. Methodology of this study can be classified into two sequential phases. The first phase consists of selection of most important factors affecting the house selection, followed by arrangement of these factors in a hierarchy, and determining their relative importance (on a scale of 1 – 5),the second phase consists determine weightings through pair-wise comparisons. Initially, nineteen factors that affect in student’s house selection were selected based on the literature review. This study has analyzed totally 200 samples. It including 31 foreign students such as: Mongolia, Thailand, India, Malaysia and Vietnam, 169 Taiwanese students filled out questionnaire. Respondents of this study are students who study in Taiwan.This study adopts Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) tool for factor analysis, reliability analysis and other descriptive analysis. Analytic Hierarchy process (AHP) as a decision making method was utilized to arrange the correlated factors in a hierarchy and evaluate their relative importance. The findings of this study showed that factors influenced different way torespondents of this study. This study indicated that 5 most important factors for students’ house selection. Those are: type of rental payment, rental fee level, facility, environment around, close to university campus. |
