    Title: Integration of Mind Map, QFD and TRIZ to Project Adventure Equipment Improvement-A Case of Rock Climbing Equipment

    Abstract: Styles of domestic leisure activities are changing gradually in Taiwan. Adventurous and self-pursuing activities as well as project adventure (PA) are favored by Taiwanese people. Rock climbing, one of the main activities of PA, becomes popular among young and old in North and South America and Europe. Introduction of aid climbing site has encouraged increasing number of people pursuing technical extreme sports; therefore, the sport of rock climbing has growing significantly in Taiwan. Regarding to the existing researches of rock climbing, most of them discussed on professional and educational training aspects than equipments. Therefore, this research focuses on the research and development of rock climbing equipments. To reach the results, mind map is used for integrating the opinions of participants. Also, quality function deployment (QFD) is applied for acquiring the priority of quality techniques. Teoriya resheniya izobretatelskikh zadatch (TRIZ) is applied to convert quality techniques priorities into service parameters and contradiction matrix. The results of this study achieve six effective improvement suggestions in three different aspects. Three suggestions about management: 1. Update professional knowledge and technique online. 2. Obtain license for the aid climbing site 3. Provide multi-lingual instructions for rock climbing equipment. Two suggestions about product convenience design: 1. Increase portability of bouldering. 2. Create multi-function chalk bags. One suggestion about product operation design: 1. Improve chalk bag structure for comfortable use. Specifically, this research provides effective improvement and innovation notion for rock climbing equipment. Also, it offers practical suggestions for coaches of PA and the industry.
