Abstract: This research aims to explore the motivation, parent-child interaction and personal relationship of family campers. In addition to consider the relation, the difference of parent-child cognition and family background is investigated. However, recreational activities are diverse. In terms of family encampment activities, parent-child interaction and personal relationship can be enhanced, and children can experience plentiful life. According to the characteristics of family encampment activities, a convenience sampling survey that focused on camp places in the west of Taiwan had been constructed to evaluate the relation between participative motivation and parent-child interaction. We received 100 valid questionnaires from families and 200 valid questionnaires from parents and children. The analysis results indicated that positive relationship existed between participative motivation and parent-child interaction; part-positive relationship existed between participative motivation and personal relationship; and positive relationship existed between parent-child interaction and personal relationship. Therefore, through family encampment activities, parent-child interaction can be increased, and parents and children can develop good personal relationship. Most families think family encampment activities enable children and teenagers to observe, learn and enjoy outdoor life.
