Abstract: Teenage is a crucial turning point of life stages during which leisure activities and interpersonal relationships should have been concerned most. However, in a society that the vanity of cramming into the higher educational institutions prevails, it does not attach importance to the cultivation of practical skills, and leisure activities. That’s why teenagers often feel a sense of ‘boredom’ when undertaking the leisure activities. This phenomenon does not only affect one’s hobby cultivation but also indirectly hinders the development of one’s interpersonal relationships. Hence, this research, firstly, aims to understand the leisured lifestyle patterns and the interpersonal relationships among the junior high school students. Secondly, it investigates how demographic variables differentiate the leisured lifestyle patterns and the interpersonal relationships respectively. Lastly, it explores the relationships between diversified leisured lifestyle patterns and the interpersonal interactions. The data of this research are based on the boy and the girl students from the first grade to the third one of public senior high schools in Taichung city, both in metropolitan and suburban areas. The researcher sent out 641 questionnaires with 626 ones returned with the response rate 97.7%. After removing the invalid questionnaires, there remain 583 valid ones which account for 91% effective response rate. The statistical analysis reveals:1. It does have a significant difference among the leisured lifestyle patterns when related to different sexes, grades, family conditions, school districts, and the activity engagement with the family.2. An obvious difference does exist in the interpersonal interaction when related to different sexes, grades, living conditions, and bad habits run by the family.3. Among the aspects of the leisured lifestyle patterns of the junior high school students, it shows a positive relationship in the groups of “sports loving”, “health maintenance”, “travel loving”, “social engagement”, and “frequent internet use”, while the group of the loner shows no connection to the interpersonal relationships.
