Abstract: AbstractThe main goal of the current study was to gain better understandings on the current status of preventative behaviors to teenage acne and to discuss the association of several variables with these behaviors in junior high school students. Using all students enrolled in the first semester of 2011 in one of the Junior High School in Taichung City as study population, stratified cluster sampling yielded 424 effective samples from 14 different classes. The study results had revealed:1. The “Grade” and “Self-evaluation on status of acne” of study subjects affected preventative behaviors to teenage acne significantly. However, “Gender”, “have been suffered with acne or not” and “have been received medical treatments for acne” did not affects preventative behaviors to teenage acne significantly.2. “Occupation of subject’s father” affected preventative behaviors to teenage acne significantly. However, “Education level of subject’s father”, “Education level of subject’s mother” and “Occupation of subject’s father” did not affects preventative behaviors to teenage acne significantly.3. “Cognition of acne” of study subject was positively correlated with preventative behaviors to teenage acne significantly. 4. In terms of the ways for study subjects to gain knowledge about acne, “Related courses provide by school”, “Extracurricular books, newspapers and journals”, “Public media and internet”, “Classmates and friends”, ”Medical professionals” and “Instructions from medications for acne ” were factors that significantly associated with preventative behaviors to teenage acne. However, factors such as “Teachers at school” and “Family relatives” were not significantly associated with preventative behaviors to teenage acne.Based on results in current study, we proposed several advises for serving as futuer references for education, teaching practice and following-up studies to prevent teenage acne.
