This research examines the relationships among codependency, social support and Facebook addiction of college students. Three scales utilized in this study included Chinese Codependency Assessment Tool (CCDAT), Social Support of Reality and Internet Scale as well as Facebook Addiction Scale. Two hundred and ten valid questionnaires were collected through internet survey. The survey response rate was 87.5%. Data analyses procedure involved t-test, One-way ANOVA, partial correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis and Sobel Test for hypotheses testing.According to the research hypotheses, the results are listed as follows:Hypothesis one: There was a significant negative correlation between codependency and reality social support of college students. Hypothesis two: There was a significant positive correlation between codependency and internet social support of college students.Hypothesis three: There was a significant positive correlation between codependency and Facebook addiction of college students.Hypothesis four: This hypothesis was rejected.Hypothesis five: There was a significant negative correlation between internet social support and Facebook addiction of college students.Hypothesis six: There was a significant positive correlation between reality social support and Facebook addiction of college students.Hypothesis seven: The result showed that reality social support had no mediating effect on the relationship between codependency and Facebook addiction.Hypothesis eight: The result showed that internet social support had partial mediating effect on the relationship between codependency and Facebook addiction.Finally, based on the results of this study, implications for school counseling practice and recommendations for future research are discussed and outlined.
