Introduction: With the increasing aging population and the number of disabled individuals, home care services have become crucial to aging in place. However, frontline home care workers in long-term care services often face unexpected situations while providing care, which require physical labor and impose significant stress. This study aims to understand the resilience status among home care workers and identify the factors that influence it to provide strategies for enhancing their resilience in coping with difficulties and setbacks in their work. Objective: To explore the status and influencing factors of the resilience of home care workers.Method: A purposive sampling method was employed, and data were collected through a questionnaire survey. The survey included measures of personal demographics, resilience scale, self-efficacy scale, and social support scale. A total of 250 home care workers participated. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS/PC 26.0. Results: The personal demographics of home care workers indicated that they were primarily female, with an average age of 47 years, married, and having a high school education. Most of them did not hold supervisory positions. On average, their working experience is 2.3 years, with a tenure of 1.7 years in their current job. The average resilience score of home care workers was 73.06, indicating a high level of resilience. The average self-efficacy score is 30.8, indicating an above-average level. The average social support score was 50.2, indicating a high level of support. The factors associated with resilience among home care workers included marital status, age, tenure in the current job, self-efficacy, and social support. Multiple regression analyses found that self-efficacy, social support, and age were significant predictors of resilience and could jointly explain 45% of the variance. Conclusion: This study investigated the factors influencing resilience among home care workers. The findings indicate that self-efficacy was the most significant factor affecting resilience among home care workers, explaining the variation of 35%. Therefore, it recommends that homecare organizations implement self-efficacy training for new staff to improve resilience, enhance their ability to cope with difficulties, and foster confidence in problem-solving within their work. |
