This study aims to understand the experiences of empowerment, perceptual modes, and the impact of empowerment on the supervisees during the supervision process. A qualitative research design utilizing hermeneutic phenomenology was adopted, and in-depth interviews were conducted with three Counseling Psychology Interns. The study found that empowerment experiences can serve as a catalyst for promoting positive supervision relationships, facilitating knowledge sharing, and regulating negative emotions. Additionally, different supervisory relationships, such as "incubation-type," "dependency-type," and "multiple-relationship," affect the quality of empowerment experiences. These relationships are influenced by factors such as supervisees, supervisors, and institutions, and display different patterns. Among them, the "brewing type" of empowerment experience has better stability and sustainability, while the "dependent type" and "multiple relationships" have poorer stability and sustainability. However, empowerment experiences and supervisory relationships complement each other, and empowerment can also promote the development of positive supervisory relationships. Supervisees perceive empowerment experiences through self-disclosure, writing and reviewing practice records, self-reflection, and self-awareness. The impact of empowerment experiences on supervisees includes promoting personal growth and enhancing professional competence. Finally, this study provides suggestions on how to use empowerment experiences to improve the quality and effectiveness of the supervisory relationship.
