Camping has gradually become a new choice of leisure activity for the public in recent years. Because camping is a recreational activity that requires long stays in an outdoor environment, campers without positive environmental attitudes may unconsciously damage the environment while camping. Recent studies have rarely focused on the environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors of campers. Therefore, this study commenced to explore the relationship between environmental attitudes and environmental behaviors of campers. Convenience sampling was performed to distribute 351 copies of a questionnaire. SPSS Statistics was used to perform reliability and validity analysis, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient analysis. The following conclusions are drawn: 1. Campers’ environmental attitude conditions and differencesResearchers of this study observed positive results regarding campers’ environmental attitudes. Campers commonly recognized the potential environmental crisis in the future and fully understood the human-caused severe damages to the natural environment. Significant environmental attitude differences were observed between campers differing in sex, age, marital status, income, place of residence, and camping frequency. Campers with an educational level of university had more positive environmental attitude than did those with an educational level of senior high school or lower. Campers of different occupations reported significant environmental attitude differences. 2. Campers’ environmental behavior status and differences In terms of environmental behaviors, the respondents scored the highest in the dimension of “consumer/economic behavior,” and they strongly supported the idea of bringing their own reusable tableware on their camping trips. No significant environmental behavior differences were observed between campers of different demographic characteristics (i.e., sex, age, educational level, marital status, income, place of residence, and camping frequency) except for occupation. 3. Correlation between campers’ environmental attitudes and environmental behaviorsA significant, positive partial correlation was observed between campers’ overall environmental attitudes and overall environmental behaviors.
