In addition, along with it also requires human resources who are familiar with the existence of a stem. A solid foundation in STEM is required in a career where technical knowledge, problem-solving, and relationship building are the key elements in the field. However, the advancement of STEM in developed countries verifies that STEM education needs to be improved, especially in Indonesia. Indonesia is well known as a nation with a large population with a diverse society that still adheres to a very strong culture. Aside from that, patriarchy is still alive and well in Indonesian society. Thus, the culture can be seen in a variety of areas, including the economy, education, politics, and even the law. This qualitative research explores the cultural dimensions of Indonesia and examines their relationship with females” roles in their family, society, and workplace, and how those females overcome obstacles to determine future career decisions in STEM. This study is configured to learn more about the challenges that Indonesian female students experienced when choosing STEM as their major. The technique used in taking the subject is purposive sampling. Afterward, snowball sampling methods were used in this analysis. This study is a qualitative explorative by using the depth interview method to get maximum results, where the depth interview itself uses a few participants to adopt useful insights to find out the challenges faced by Indonesian women in fields that are unusual and contrary to the social values. The results in this study show that gender stereotype is not the barricade for Indonesia female in STEM related career and for the female take the major in STEM.
