Background: Sleep quality was considered a priority concern facing pregnant women. The traditional view argues that good sleep quality benefits pregnant women and their fetuses. Doing exercise has been proven to improve sleep problems, and whether or not pregnant women perform exercises can help improve sleep problems remains to be discussed. In addition, pregnant women who exercise regularly during pregnancy may be worried that this habit may have an adverse effect on pregnancy results.Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of specific exercise programs on pregnant women’s sleep quality and newborn health. Methods:Studies were executed in seven databases since their inceptions until February 28th, 2020 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the effects of an exercise program on the sleep quality and insomnia in health pregnant women. In addition, a search was performed from five databases. Before September 30, 2020, the randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of an exercise program on newborn health in health pregnant women. Results: In the part of exercise programs for improving pregnant women’s sleep quality and insomnia, seven studies were included for meta-analysis and analyzed 688 pregnant women. The meta-analysis showed that exercise can improve pregnant women’s sleep quality, but exercise training has no evidence that it can deal with pregnant women’s insomnia. In the part of the affecting the health of newborns in the performing exercises in pregnant women, 31 RCTs were integrated and analyzed. A total of 7220 pregnant women were analyzed. The results of the meta-analysis indicated that the pregnant women who doing exercise had a lighter newborn weight, and the risk in underweight of newborns and macrosomia were lower than the control group. There is no difference in premature and Apgar scores in newborns.
