Background:Since my country revised the tobacco hazards prevention act in 2009, in the past few years, the relevant government authorities have not only strengthened bans and inspections for illegal tobacco use, but also actively handled tobacco hazard prevention and health education, diversified smoking cessation services, and created smoke-free enviornment. In 2018, the smoking ban has a protective efficacy of 94.6% with regard to prevention of exposure to second-hand smoke in non-smoking areas and the results have been remarkable. However, in recent years, the public is still not very clear about the cognition of emerging third-hand cigarettes, and the dangers of third-hand cigarettes should not be ignored. Objective:The purpose of this study is to understand the adults in Taipei City’s explosure to second-hand smoke environment and their perception of third-hand smoke, and explored their impact on satisfaction with smoke-free policies. Methods:This research is a secondary database analysis. The original source of the data is from the "Taipei City Adult Smoking Behavior Interview" project of the Taipei City Government Health Bureau. Phone interview was used to collect the data from citizens over 18 years old living in Taipei city. This study extracted part of the questionnaire and analyzed the impact of 1,633 participants’ third-hand smoke perceptions and exposure to second-hand smoke environment on smoke-free policy satisfaction. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0 statistical software. Descriptive and inferential (including binary logistic regression analysis) analysis were performed. Results:Under the control of demographic variables,"marital status" is that people without a partner are more satisfied with the smoke-free environment policy (OR=1.360, p<0.05). If there is no experience in "public exposure to second-hand smoke in public places" for Taipei citizens, it also highly satisfied with the smoke-free environment policy (OR=2.067, p<0.001); as for the level of "third-hand smoke perception", it has no effect on the smoke-free environment policy. Conclusion:This study found that people who are not exposed to second-hand smoke in public places have an impact on the smoke-free environment, and the third-hand smoke is not influential. Therefore, continue to create measures to prevent the diversification of second-hand smoke, strengthen the negative effects of third-hand smoke, and environmental management , Smoking cessation and compliance may be the future of promoting the support of smoke-free policies for urban residents.
