The purpose of this research is to understand the relationship between work pressure, the willingness of retaining a post, and work performance when firefighters perform special ambulance service (COVID-19) in the face of a new type of unpredictable emergency rescue. Besides, the social support is used as the adjustment variable for the analysis. .This study adopts a questionnaire survey method. The main research subjects are the field firefighters of the Taichung City Fire Department. A total of 250 questionnaires were distributed, and 213 questionnaires were returned. Among them, 200 were valid questionnaires, 13 invalid questionnaires, and the recovery rate of effective questionnaire was 93.89%. The questionnaire structure included 5 items, including "Firefighter Work Stress Scale", "Wish to Leave Scale", "Work Performance Scale", "Social Support Scale" and "Personal Basic Information Questionnaire". The research results are listed as follows:1. The survey subjects of this study are mostly male firefighters, and most of them are 31 to 35 years old.2. The work pressure generated by firefighters during the execution of the project (COVID-19) ambulance service has a significant positive effect on the work performance; it has a significant negative effect on retaining a post.3. Social support (supervisor support, family support) has a significant adjustment effect between work pressure and willingness to stay.In summary, the main focus of this research is to explore the impact of work pressure on firefighters’ performance and the willingness of retaining a post when firefighters perform special ambulance service (COVID-19), as well as the regulatory effect played by social support, so that the fire department can know how to make corresponding decisions. When faced with similar project duties in the future, the fire department should consider the nature of field duties, formulate an appropriate amount of duty schedule, handle response training, supplement various safety protection equipment, and actively seek funds to supplement manpower, modify the current dutysystem, make colleagues have plenty of rest. |
