Abstract: | Tourism is one of the major economic growth areas in Thailand because it generates revenue, creates career opportunities, reduces the movement of people to large cites, promotes local cultures and lifestyles and enhances the standard of living for those living in attraction areas. However, the rapid growth of mass tourism and environmental carelessness have had environmental impacts; the aggravation of this concern has led to increased ecotourism (Sriarkarin and Lee, 2018). Osman et al. (2018) argued that ecotourism benefits the environment, society, culture and economy of attraction areas and local communities, providing the best solution to the long-run need to protect and promote local natural and cultural diversity. However, many ecotourism developments fail due to the lack of a proper assessment (Lonn et al., 2018). An assessment of tourism potential is necessary for tourist attraction development (Yan et al., 2017). Tourism potential considers the location, accessibility, accommodations, infrastructure, services, and value and abundance of resources within a community or location that can be transformed into tourist attractions or finished products. |
