    Abstract: 以大眾最常接觸的劇情動畫為本研究分析案例,使用人格九型(Enneagram)類型學將動畫角色的性格特質,依據劇情以及角色交際互動之間的發展進行調查,再觀察角色的造形特徵,以三角形、正方形、長方形、圓形、多邊形對其進行分解,掌握角色的結構與整體觀感。最後,將這些角色拆解後的主要形狀與其性格特質互相對應,定義以上五種形狀最能體現的性格詞彙。本研究目的在於了解動畫角色的性格特質與外觀造形之間的關聯,進一步理解角色的設計理念。因為動畫角色設計師的工作流程在今天看來仍是有些神秘的,真正由動畫角色設計師親自分享的內容非常稀少,或非常分散,身處於此教育系統之中,希望藉由文獻分析法與語言歸納法整理出一個可依循的設計原則,提供後續在此領域創作與研究的人員參考。

    在本研究分析後,可總結出五種形狀最能體現的性格如下:以三角形為主的角色不論正邪多為充滿自信的領導者;正方形常應用於強壯、陽剛的造形設計,且無論性別,其角色特質皆是可靠和自傲的;造形是長方形時,多數都是為了突顯角色的頭部,顯示智慧與自信,且是所有形狀中最少表現出負面性格特質的。角色以圓形為主時,是所有形狀中最能讓觀眾快速接受的造形,研究中,還發現較圓潤的角色可以凝聚起團隊或家人。多邊形的角色造形會使角色的觀感不停的變動,進而顯現的性格特質多半是負面的,對於觀眾的認知來說是較不可測的。
    This study analyzes the popular animated motion picture using the Enneagram of personality approach. Animated motion picture characters are classified based on their personalities, and analyzed based on the character exchanges in the plot. This study also focuses on the geometrical dimensions of the characters' designs, evaluating each character's structure and overall impression based on the triangle, square, rectangle, circle, and polygon attributes. Finally, this study offers a defined vocabulary of personality derived from the correlation that exists between a character's shape and its personality. This study wishes to clarify the relationship between a character's personality and its appearance in shape, and thereby understand the designing principles of each character. The workflow of the designers who create animated characters remain mysterious, and there are very few personal accounts by animated character designers that describe how they work. This author, situated in such an educational system, wishes to use literature review and linguistic classification to identify a design principle that could provide future practitioners and researchers in this field some guidance.

    According to the analysis result of this study, the five shapes personalities can be summarized as follows: the roles constructed by Triangles are confident leaders for both the positives and the evils; the Square is usually used in strong and masculine roles, regardless of gender. Their character traits are reliable and proud; when the shape is Rectangular, most of them are to highlight the character's head, showing wisdom and self-confidence, and they are rare to be negative personality traits in these five shapes. When the character is dominated by a Circle, it is most acceptable to the audience. In this study, it is also found that a rounded character can reunion the team or family. The shape of the Polygon will make the character's perception constantly change, and the revealed personality traits are mostly negative, it would be more unpredictable to the audience.
