    Title: Take Mingjian in Nantou of the theme of the Innovative Creation of Japanese Style Manga

    Abstract: Japanese manga and anime has become prevalent and gained popularity with youngsters. It has large impact on the development of the global manga and anime culture and many enterprises /companies therefore have begun to advertise their products through manga and anime such as the Japanese construction company ‘First Cooperation’ and Iwaki Meisei University at Japan.
    Taiwanese manga and anime have also been influenced a great deal by Japanese manga and anime. In recent years, the population fascinated with manga and anime has increasingly grown and lots of Japanese style manga and anime spring up on the market, which brings about the marketing and promotion of tourism through manga and anime. Compared with the traditional promotion by means of real person and realia, the advertising through manga and anime has led to brand new transformation and changes. What are the significant effects that the promotion of tourism and culture through manga and anime might bring?
    This paper would like to explore the above question. The study is based on the scenic spot Mingjian, a small village in Nantou. By animating the local tourism and culture into an illustration book with 66 pages to representing Mingjian, the author presents the work through Japanese style magna and interview 6 subjects their viewpoints on the work. All the subjects study Visual Communication Design. The drawbacks and merits of the work are obtained through the interview. The work is thus modified and rectified based on the result of the interview. After the modification, the revised work along with the questionnaire is publicized on the Internet. There are 61 collected questionnaires with reliability and validity.
    The results of the questionnaires suggest that the promotion and marketing of tourism through manga and anime brings a great deal of good effect. Most subjects hold positive attitudes towards the work of manga and anime, which indicates that the work is acceptable among the subjects. More than half of the subjects express that they are appealed by the work, only a small percentage of the subjects around 3%~7% are less affected by the work though. The result of the paper can serve as a reference for further studies or creation of the work. The village Mingjian can also promote its local culture and tourism based on the result of the paper and the work.
