Abstract: | The purpose of this study is to explore the risk of hypertension between people with intellectual & developmental disabilities and normal persons. The study populations whose age were equal or larger than 30 and without hypertension were obtained based on National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) during 2007 to 2009. Then the study population was distinguish as two groups such as intellectual & developmental disabilities group and normal person group. Then they will be followed until 2013 to identify ratio of hypertension in each group.
There were significant differences between these two groups including gender, age, CCI, obesity status, degree of urbanization, geographical distribution and insurance amount. Then cox proportional hazards model was used to evaluate the odds of hypertension between the two groups by controlling gender, age, CCI, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, smoking, drinking, obesity, kidney disease, degree of urbanization, georgic location, and insurance amount. The value of adjusted HR for patients with light intellectual & developmental disabilities was 1.72, and the interval of 95% confident value was 1.18 to 2.51. It means light intellectual & developmental disabilities have higher risk to get hypertension than ordinary persons.
Finally, good life habit should be built from school time of intellectual & developmental disabilities to keep good lifestyle from hypertension. Beside, caregivers might also can enrich their selves hypertension information to take care and assist intellectual & developmental disabilities. |
